ASSIGNMENT BRIEF

Assignment Description – This Assignment covers the Learning outcome listed above. Students are required to meet the assessment criteria to qualify the module assessment.

Preparation guidelines

∙ The report should be grammatically correct and word processed.

∙ The written report must be presented in a professional manner, with STUDENT ASSESSMENT FEEDBACK FORM, contents page, page numbering, bibliography and annexes.

∙ Use the Font as Arial size 11 and 1.5 line spacing.

∙ Identify any references and Use the Harvard referencing system.

∙ Complete the Form 1 page and sign the statement of authenticity.

∙ You will pass the assignment only if you achieve all Pass criteria. Student must provide evidence that learning outcomes of the subject have been met.

∙ Assignment will be checked for Plagiarism. Appropriate Actions may be taken as per College / Qualifi Plagiarism Policy.

Good practice

∙ Make backup of your work in different media (hard disk, memory stick etc) to avoid distress for loss or damage of your original copy.

∙ Make an extra hardcopy of your work submitted for your own reference or later use.

Plagiarism and Collusion

1. In submitting the assignment Learner’s must complete a statement of authenticity confirming that the work submitted for all tasks is their own.

2. Plagiarism and collusion are treated very seriously. Plagiarism involves presenting work, excerpts, ideas or passages of another author without appropriate referencing and attribution.

3. Collusion occurs when two or more learners submit work which is so alike in ideas, content, wording and/or structure that the similarity goes beyond what might have been mere coincidence

4. Please familiarise yourself on Qualifi’s Malpractice and Maladministration policy, where you can find further information

Referencing

1. A professional approach to work is expected from all learners. Learners must therefore identify and acknowledge ALL sources/methodologies/applications used.

2. The learner must use an appropriate referencing system to achieve this. Marks are not awarded for the use of English; however, the learner must express ideas clearly and ensure that appropriate terminology is used to convey accuracy in meaning.

3. Qualifi recommends using Harvard Style of Referencing throughout your work.

Appendices

1. You may include appendices to support your work, however appendices must only contain additional supporting information, and must be clearly referenced in your assignment.

2. You may also include tables, graphs, diagrams, Gantt chart and flowcharts that support the main report should be incorporated into the back of the assignment report that is submitted.

3. Any published secondary information such as annual reports and company literature, should be referenced in the main text of the assignment, in accordance of Harvard Style Referencing, and referenced at the end of the assignment.

Word Count Policy

1. Learners must comply with the required word count, within a margin of +10%. These rules exclude the index, headings, tables, images, footnotes, appendices and information contained within references and bibliographies. 2. When an assessment task requires learners to produce presentation slides with supporting notes, the word count applies to the supporting notes only.

Marking and grades

Qualifi uses a standard marking rubric for all assignments, and you can find the details at the end of this document. Confidentiality

1. Where a Learner is using organisational information that deals with sensitive material or issues, they must seek the advice and permission from that organisation about its inclusion.

2. Assignments should be submitted electronically to examinations@capitalcollege.ae only.

ASSIGNMENT QUESTION

Scenario

Learners may use their own employment context to write an assignment based on assessment tasks. Assessment tasks are learning outcomes of the unit associated with Assessment Criteria. You are required to generate sufficient evidence on assessment criteria to meet learning outcomes of the unit within the rules, regulations and standards to achieve credits of the unit. If you are not in employment, please use the following scenario.

Consider you are working as a Business Development Manager of a small-medium sized organisation, which deals with its customers all over the world to sell its products and services. You are leading a team of ten individuals within your company who are interacting with customers individually or in a group in their day-to-day roles and responsibilities to achieve the sales target, develop business relationship and provide customer services. You are using your managerial and leadership abilities, skills and capabilities to influence, motivate, and enable individuals and groups in your organisation to contribute toward the effectiveness and success of the organisation goals. That includes planning and then sound decision making in any business situation and context, adoption of contingency plans in adverse situation, organising resources, leading and implementing strategies to achieve the organisational short- and long-term targets.

You have been asked to write an assignment based on reviewing, exploring, researching, analysis and improvement of business decision making by meeting the following 3 tasks to demonstrate your managerial qualities and skills.

Task 1 – 600 words

Review relevant issues that are important to making business decision.

1.1: Outline the relevant issues that are important to making business decisions, with particular reference to stakeholder needs and

expectations.

1.2: Review the relevant information of the business issues where decisions are needed.

Task 2 – 800 words

Explore approaches to the decision-making process and how to improve approaches. 2.1: Evaluate processes for obtaining relevant information on business issues and identify where any strengths or weaknesses in approach exists.

2.2: Make decisions based upon information gained; provide justifications for these decisions and explain how the decisions should be disseminated.
