MGT101 Business Organisations and Society Assessment Brief, 2024/5
Introduction
Submission: May 16, 2025
There has been significant digital and technological transformation which has impacted the way we work, and has influenced
1. The way managers interact, communicate, support and guide employees. 2. The way employees behave and interact with colleagues, customers, clients and their line managers.
3. How organisations support agile and flexible working e.g., home working for some sectors, roles and professions, or the customer facing processes e.g., within hospitality, retail, and the service sectors.
Task
The organisers of a โCIPD Festival of Digital Transformation: Ways of Working in a Digitally Enhanced Worldโ have approached you to design an educational artefact (in the form of a reflection) for potential and current line managers based on one of the following topics (you choose one topic only):
1. The impact of digital technologies on employee fatigue and psychological wellbeing at work.
2. The potential barriers and benefits of digital technology for inclusive working practices.
3. How digital technology enables agile working within the workplace. 4. The potential barriers and benefits of flexible working on an organisation.
To address this question, you should consider the following.
โข The impact of digital on the behaviour of employees e.g. presenteeism. โข The ways digital can support how employees complete their job tasks. โข The ways digital supports the role of a line manager in being inclusive for all employees.
โข Consider the job role and the sector (as there are subtle differences depending on the job type, job role and/or sector in terms of how digital impacts employee behaviour and ways of working).
The assignment is to be presented as one of the following;
1. As an audio (maximum of 10 minutes)
2. As a Vlog (maximum of 10 minutes)
Within the audio blog or vlog, you are required to cite academic sources from relevant journal articles and textbooks, supported with secondary sources from research reports from recognised professional bodies (CIPD or CMI); Government Agencies (ACAS, EHRC, CBI, TUC); relevant charities (e.g., MIND, Anxiety UK, Bipolar UK, Age UK); newspapers.
