- Rationale
The assignment assesses the following learning outcomes:
- CLO2: integrate multimedia elements into an interactive multimedia application using multimedia authoring tool in a group work;
- CLO3: produce the required documentation for planning, testing and evaluation of an interactive multimedia application.
- Instructions
You must use an appropriate multimedia authoring tool to implement your planning and design from Assignment 1 (Project scene size 800px (width) x 600px (height)). Save the work in a suitable format for the target audience, thus they can view your multimedia product, e.g. executable file or web file (.exe/ .html).
You are required to submit:
- Executable file for the complete multimedia product
- Link to the multimedia product published on Unity Play
- Source code files for the project
- Project report (details below)
- Walkthrough video
Section 1: Introduction [Group Task]
Provide an introduction to your application to a potential user, describing why they should use is and goals of the application. Include information about:
- Installation: the deployment platform and instructions that clearly explain step-by-step how to install and operate your application, including minimum requirements of software and hardware.
- Finding it online: Link to the application on Unity Play
Section 2: User Interface Design [Group Task]
Discuss the user interface for your application by describing three aspects:
- Navigational structure: explain the navigation structure of your interactive multimedia application showing the various scenes and content for the application. Provide justification for the navigation type and flow.
- Textual displays โ discuss the use of text and typography in your application in terms of placement, size and visibility.
- Visual design โ discuss guidelines and principles used in the interface design of the application.
You are expected to provide references to the theories and principles that you have used in your design.
Figure 1: Sample of Navigational Structure
Section 3: Functional Report [Group Task]
Discuss the completed functionalities of your application by providing at least FOUR (4) screenshots. Explain whether these functionalities were completed on time and according to the requirements.
You are also required to present your multimedia application by preparing a promotional and walkthrough video that contains the following elements:
- Title of the application
- Description of the application
- Objectives of the application
- Walkthrough of application
Sections 4 โ 6 are Individual Tasks. Write clearly the team memberโs name.
Section 4: Technical Report [Individual Task]
Provide the technical descriptions of multimedia elements used in the application.
- Describe steps needed to produce ONE (1) of the most complex scenes you have produced (provide screen shots and explanations for important steps). Describe the technical steps (the use of symbols, keyframes, object properties, etc) to produce the scenes by integrating the various multimedia elements i.e.: text/graphic/audio/video.
- Explain ONE (1) of the most complex and important scripts used in your scenes in detail.
You must acknowledge of the sources for elements you did not create yourself, and state clearly in which scene you used those elements.
Section 5: Testing [Individual Task]
Each student should independently playtest the application and record the results in the template in Appendix A.
Section 6: Project Review and Evaluation [Individual Task]
Discuss the challenges and limitations you have faced in developing this application and how you have resolved any issues that have arisen. You must also discuss whether you have fulfilled all your assigned tasks and your contribution towards the project objectives, and any future improvements planned.
Technical Notes
Your multimedia application will be graded based on the following criteria:
- Each group is to develop ONLY ONE executable product file. You must merge all individual tasks as one complete project and one documentation.
- Project scene size 800px (width) x 600px (height)
- Upload your game to Unity Play and provide the link.
- Project runs perfectly with no technical problems or error messages.
- Users can progress in a logical path to find information. All buttons and navigational tools work as intended.
- The combination of GUI elements (buttons, links, and graphics) and content communicate the intended ideas clearly.
- All graphics, video, audio, etc., are used effectively to convey the intended meaning.
- The sequence of information is logical and intuitive. Menus and paths to all information are clear and direct.
- Project is truly interactive multimedia, rather than linear and contains a manageable number of appropriate choices.
- The project shows significant evidence of originality. Most of the content and many of the ideas are fresh, original, and creative.
- Include the HELP University logo in your implementation, at least in ONE page, e.g.: home page or team developer page.
Note: You must cite the sources of your media and provide credits. This is especially true of pictures and video data. Using someone elseโs media without attribution is considered plagiarism and will be severely penalized.
