Coursework – Creative Practical Assignments
This coursework assesses the following Learning Outcomes of the module:
LO1 – an understanding of digital audio technologies and competence in using a variety of audio tools for authoring and editing;
LO2 – knowledge of the process involved in creating audio assets and basic principles of working with audio within the context of internet and digital production;
LO3 – audio and music theory and knowledge of music production software and audio recording, editing, mixing and mastering software.
LO4 – audio recording devices and authoring and mixing and editing audio; Coursework Introduction
This coursework enables you to develop an understanding about the fundamentals of sounds, audio hardware, audio script and digital music production.
You are to make a proper sound archive along with radio jingle and music generation. And you are to use your audio assets and then apply it as a Foley sound in the video that you shoot along with proper documentation.
Instructions
There are 10 sub-components to the first coursework and their details are as follows:
1. Understanding About the Fundamentals of Sound
Student should do research about the fundamental of sounds including definition, source, types and characteristics of sound.
2. Audio Transducers
Student should do researched based in different types of microphones and speakers, their uses and mechanism used in the industry.
3. Studio Equipment & Recording
Students should do research work about the audio hardware requirements in the industry for sound production and recording.

4. Music Theory for Digital Music Production
Students should document about music production theories and provide research work on the basis of it.
5. Script Writing for A Radio Commercial
Student must research about a product and prepare a script for a radio commercial.
6. Generating White Noise for Video
Students should produce sound effects from software and then document the process of how it was done.
7. Sample Music Production
Students should produce sample music and then document the process on how it was done.
8. Draft Music Production
Students should use the music production knowledge to create draft music suitable for their own radio advertising projects.
9. Documentation
Keep a technical and creative log book for your hand in documentation. This should document your process and development and reflective dialogue to also include tutor evaluation/ or student and tutor discussion.
10. Viva
Students need to present and defense their assignments.

Folder Structure: Documentation Source Files Audio Files ● Readme.txt ● References.txt | Documentation – This folder should contain the soft copy of the documentation submitted. Source Files – Should contain all the source files of the audio files submitted Audio Files – Should contain all the final sound archive, radio jingle and music production project file properly in sub folders. Readme.txt – Should contain student name, student ID, and course of study, lecturer name and folder and file structure of location information. References.txt – Should contain the proper links of any external sources used in the project. |
