ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION:
This assignment aims to develop and apply your understanding of street design through the redesign and representation of an existing street in the campus neighbourhood through plan and section drawings. In doing so, you will incorporate your knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to develop an attractive, clear, and scaled drawings that are commonly used in urban design practice.
You will be assigned a section of street from the downtown Mississauga neighbourhood to redesign based on a set of provided criteria. This street redesign will be carried forward through the remainder of the semester to include 3D modelling and visualizations of your design and ultimately a final presentation board.
Part 1: Street Plan Drawing
• Prepare a computer-illustrated plan using Adobe Illustrator.
• This design plan should show all of the existing buildings and the ROW accurately, with the public realm, roadway and new infill buildings being of your own design based on the criteria and desired street type provided for you.
• Time will be provided in-class to review your street type and begin designing with guidance from the professor and tutor.
• The plan should reflect only a sample or, “typical” condition of your redesigned street for a distance of 20m along the street. (widths will vary depending on your assigned street).
Part 2: Street Section Drawing
• Based on your street plan design from Part 1, create a street section drawing using Adobe Illustrator.
• The section should be cut from the plan in Part 1 so it is clearly related and understood.
Note: Both drawings should be drawn to the same scale (1:100) and include all the elements, dimensions, labels, and other conventions described in class.

• Submit both drawings as an individual JPEGS at a resolution of 300dpi each on their own 11×17” page. Include your name, a title (your assigned street name), and a bar scale (and north arrow on the plan). Be sure that all text is legible at the submitted size. (9pt or larger)
